The Steel General Superintendent provides leadership to all steel field personnel and strives for consistent improvement on the company’s core values of “Safety, Quality, and Production”.  Provides support to field personnel to efficiently execute projects assigned including project scheduling, manpower scheduling, quality subcontractor and supplier relationships, and successfully completing all projects.

Steel General Superintendent Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Safety

  • Ensure all company safety policies and practice are upheld
  • Ensure all field employees have proper safety certifications
  • Ensure all foremen are completing daily morning safety meetings with their crews
  • Assist all foremen with any near miss and accident reporting and investigations

Start-up and Job Performance

  • Assign Project Foreman
  • Ensure all project startup paperwork is provided to foreman
  • Schedule all start-up meetings with Estimator, Foreman on site when appropriate
  • Work with project manager and Foreman to coordinate all equipment and materials are ordered for a timely delivery in order not to hold up production
  • Make daily job visit when applicable
  • Ensure all company equipment and rental equipment is maintained to top quality
  • Responsible for maintenance and organization of company shop area and warehouse area through shop manager.
  • Assist Project Team in a successful on-time completion of projects
  • Oversee total Field Operations including but limited to
    • Scheduling manpower
    • Implementing and adhering to YCIS Safety Policy and programs
    • Purchasing and maintaining tools and equipment needed to complete projects
    • Coordinate field personnel training to improve safety and quality
  • Cost Tracking
    • Supply all updated estimates to Foreman
    • Review all daily logs sent to office
    • Train all foremen on completing electronic timesheets
    • Train all foremen on completing daily cost tracking on their daily timesheets

Travel

Travel may be necessary. Must be willing to travel to and from project sites, site walks, and looking at new work with Project Managers/Estimators. Travel may include being gone for a single night, to a few days depending on the project location.

 Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma
    Ten (10) years project supervision experience
  • Proficient in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Basic first aid training
  • 10-Hour OSHA Training
  • MSHA Part 46 Training
  • Will be required to get their DOT medical certification

Travel may include being gone for extended periods of time depending on the project location and time to complete the job. Extended regional area travel may be up to three weeks gone before coming home. Other jobs, travel may be defined as leaving on Sunday evening or Monday morning and coming home Friday. Traveling for jobs outside of the regional area may mean you will be gone for longer than three weeks. While Yoe does try its best to rotate and use a Travel on/Travel off schedule of working out of town for a while and then working local jobs for a break, we cannot always guarantee we have local work available.
