The Precast Fabrication Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily shop operations, coordinating fabrication activities, and leading shop personnel to ensure steel components are produced safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications. This role is responsible for maintaining quality control, supporting production schedules, promoting a safe and organized work environment, and ensuring clear communication between shop staff, foremen, supervisors, and project teams.
A successful Precast Fabrication Shop Supervisor leads by example, demonstrates a strong work ethic, and takes ownership of shop performance with honesty, integrity, and accountability. This position requires the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop shop employees while maintaining high standards for safety, workmanship, productivity, and teamwork.

Precast Fabrication Shop Supervisor Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Shop Supervision
•Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of fabrication shop personnel including the Shop Foreman and including welders, fitters, and laborers.
•Assign tasks and prioritize work based on project schedules and production demands.
•Monitor workflow to ensure efficiency and productivity.
•Provide leadership, training, and guidance to shop employees.
Production & Scheduling
•Review fabrication drawings, specifications, and work orders.
•Coordinate fabrication schedules with Shop Foreman.
•Ensure materials, equipment, and manpower are available to meet deadlines.
•Track production progress and report status to management.
Quality Control
•Ensure all fabricated steel components meet required specifications and quality standards.
•Inspect work for accuracy, proper fit, and weld quality.
•Address fabrication issues and implement corrective actions when needed.
Safety Compliance
•Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
•Conduct safety meetings and ensure proper use of PPE.
•Identify potential hazards and maintain a safe working environment.
Equipment & Shop Maintenance
•Ensure proper operation and maintenance of shop equipment and tools.
•Coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance as necessary.
•Maintain organized and efficient shop layout and material storage.
Communication & Coordination
•Work closely with Shop Foreman.
•Communicate project updates, production issues, and manpower needs.
•Assist in planning fabrication sequences to support construction schedules.
•Participate in Weekly Steel Production/Scheduling Meetings.

Required Education and Experience
•Minimum 5–10 years of experience in structural steel fabrication.
•Previous supervisory or foreman experience preferred.
•Strong knowledge of steel fabrication processes, welding, and shop equipment.
•Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
•Knowledge of AWS welding standards and fabrication tolerances.
•Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
•High school diploma/GED
•Computer skills
•Basic first aid training (Company Provided)
•Valid Drivers License Required
•Will be required to get their DOT medical certification
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
•Ability to work in a fabrication shop environment.
•Standing, walking, lifting, and climbing may be required.
•Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
